The process of litigation includes filing legal documents with the Court to request orders. If Domestic Violence is an issue the Court can issue orders without notice to the other party. Emergency ex parte orders for child custody, support and property orders may be obtained if the facts warrant. Temporary orders are obtained by filing an Order to Show Cause. The final judgment and orders are obtained after a trial or settlement.
Mediation takes place after the parties have agreed to attempt to settle their issues with the the assistance of Lisa Ramsey. If there are complicated accounting issues or the need for an appraisal of either a business or real property, experts are retained jointly for an impartial opinion. Mediation fees are based upon the issues involved. Please visit our Divorce Mediation Website for further information. www.divorcemediationfamily.com
Arbitration by agreement by the parties is also available. The parties sign a contract to enter into binding arbitration. The parties present their case to Lisa Ramsey and orders are made for the issues submitted. This process is provided for those clients who wish to avoid the court system and also are unable to amicably mediate.
